Supporting Our Emergency Services

Our team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year ready to respond to calls for assistance from the emergency services and other agencies such as the RSPCA and British Divers Marine Life Rescue.

These calls can be anything from responding to reports of persons in the water, assisting in searching for a missing person to animal rescues.

Last year our volunteers turned out to 19 call-outs at all times of the day and night, this would not have been possible if it were not for the generosity of our crews' employers for allowing them to leave and respond and also the understanding of our families who have plans interrupted as we respond to the sound of our pagers.

Flood Rescue

In recent years much of the UK has suffered from the impact of flooding at an enormous emotional and social cost. This has ranged from the widespread flooding of 2006 and 2012, the devastating floods of 2013 and 2014 and more recently the floods in Cumbria and York in late 2015. The increasing incidence of flash floods is now an added risk to community safety.

Our flood rescue team can be deployed nationally with or without boats, often working in partnership with our Surf Life Saving Great Britain colleagues to provide a wide array of assistance to flood-hit communities from rescue to humanitarian aid.
