Unlike traditional lifeboats, York Rescue Boat doesn’t just respond to calls for assistance from the emergency services. Our operational team actively patrol the riverside areas of York city center on Friday and Saturday nights and other high-risk times such as race days and bank holidays, supporting the emergency services and the night time economy.

Our combined boat and foot patrols are trained and equipped to deal with a number of situations from providing emergency first aid following a road traffic collision to suicide intervention in despondent persons to offering safety advice to boat owners to rescuing persons from the water.

York Rescue Boat is an inshore lifeboat and search and rescue team covering York and the surrounding area

York Rescue Boat members are on call 24/7, 365 days of the year to support North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service as well as carrying out weekly patrols

York Rescue Boat is an independent organisation and is a proud member of Surf Lifesaving Great Britain
